Thrift Stores In Tampa

Thrift Stores in Tampa

I visited a handful of thrift stores in Tampa to bring you a list of shops worth visiting. You might find that special item that you’re looking for, and perhaps, something you never knew you needed!

Are you looking for a unique, vintage item? Or a piece of furniture to flip? Do you love thrift stores?

Some of the shops I visited were donation-based thrift stores, and some of the shops were vintage, consignment, or antique shops.

Sunshine Thrift Store

There are three locations in the Tampa Bay Region; Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Bradenton. The Tampa location is at 4304 SOUTH DALE MABRY HIGHWAY and is a clean, well-lit thrift store in a small plaza. There is plenty of parking and weekly discounts.

The store specializes in clothing and the perimeter has a variety of home goods, electronics, kitchen stuff, and children’s toys.

Salvation Army

I popped into this S MACDILL AVE store because it was half a block up from one of the other stores on my list. The Salvation Army Stores are pretty consistent, wherever they are, this one was no exception.

It was a bit smaller than most of the other Salvation Army stores I’ve visited in the past, however, the staff was super friendly and helpful and I found a cute little globe to add to my travel-themed guest room. Bonus!

Avalon Exchange

The Avalon Exchange, located at 2823 S MACDILL AVE, is a resale store and has a very trendy curated collection of clothing and accessories. A lot of brand names and unique items. My grandson loved the faux fur shawl, but being that it’s 92 degrees, we left it behind.

Avalon Exchange has a great selection of rings, sunglasses, hats, dresses, and vintage T-Shirts and is worth a stop to find that special outfit to attend your next event.

Labelswap

You’ll want to plug this store into your GPS as you head out, or you’ll drive right by the unassuming storefront. There is plenty of secure parking behind the store, located at 3143 W KENNEDY BLVD.

I entered through the back door and a large table display greeted me with a collection of items perfect for going to see the new Barbie Movie that had just opened up in theaters. I thought this was great, everything pink, all in one spot!

Aside from getting your Barbie accessories, this is a resale store offering a variety of name brands and designer labels. The store is very well-lit and organized with several staff members eager to help you find that special something.

La France

Ybor City. Ah, I just love going to Ybor and every time I’m down that way, a stop into La France, 1612 E 7TH AVE, is required! I love bringing visitors down to Ybor City to see this store.

Words are hard to find to describe this double storefront and its diverse collection of goods. The store is cram packed with interesting items, vintage finds, unique clothing, and accessories. The staff is the most cheerful and helpful, around. Make sure you find time to visit this Tampa icon.

The Far Forest

The Far Forest, 4312 N FLORIDA AVE, was on my list to visit, however, they are closed on Sunday and Monday. Nevertheless, I will certainly make it down, another time, to have a look.

The vintage library looks amazing with a well-vetted selection of old books. This shop also has a nice selection of home goods, clothing, and handmade wares from local artists.

Retro Mania Vintage Market

Seminole Heights is a little hidden gem in Tampa. That ‘old Florida’ feeling hit me as we were driving through to get to The Retro Mania Vintage Market, 4713 N FLORIDA AVE. On my list of Thrift Stores in Tampa, a cluster of them were located in this area along Florida Avenue.

I parked behind the Retro Mania Vintage Market and entered through the back door and was greeted by the super-friendly owner. This is a resale consignment store, with various vendors. We saw vintage telephones, clothing, books, housewares, and tchotchkes. This store boasts being the oldest in the Tampa Bay Region, 60 years in the same building! Wow!

Vintage Post Marketplace

A bit further up the road at 5206 N FLORIDA AVE, is Vintage Post Marketplace. This is a very large resale store with a lot of large furniture, artwork, and home decor. There is a lot to see in this store and they do a great job keeping everything clearly priced and easy to view.

Thrift Shop Tampa / Goodwill Hillsborough Ave.

It’s always worth mentioning the standard thrift stores in Tampa, the familiar brands, and this is no exception. This is one of those Goodwill Superstores, 4102 W HILLSBOROUGH AVE, that has racks upon racks of clothing, aisles of shoes, housewares, and a fair share of new retail items. During my visit, they were in full Halloween mode.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Have you ever been to a Habitat for Humanity ReStore? If you’re working on a rental property or any DIY home improvement project, don’t pass up a visit to this store, 509 E JACKSON ST. I have found cabinets, vanities, drawer pulls, ceiling fans, and much more. Often, these items are new or gently used.

While this is not a fully comprehensive list of thrift stores in Tampa, I have outlined a good variety of places that carry vintage, antique, and unique items. You’ll be delighted to shop around and look at all of the marvelous things that these stores offer.
