Starting your day with a delicious breakfast can set the tone for a wonderful day, ahead. The charming, coastal town of Dunedin, Florida, has some amazing places to find the best breakfast to start your day.

The Best Breakfast In Dunedin

The Sandpiper, located in the heart of downtown Dunedin, is a quaint little place with indoor and outdoor seating. Bring your dog and enjoy an Eggs Benedict, freshly roasted coffee, and a variety of other classic breakfast items. A FREE public parking lot is located directly across the street. Park, have breakfast, and then enjoy a stroll through town.

There is plenty of room to park your bike and enjoy your meal. Peek inside for some great gift shopping, too!

Fleurty Girl and Spinnaker enjoying an outdoor breakfast.

Crown & Bull sits directly on Main Street, downtown, and offers ample seating inside and out. The menu will not disappoint with selections like a Butternut Squash Omlet, BBQ Short Rib Bennie, and Ricotta Toast. This used to be our go-to place, but after a change in ownership, they are no longer dog-friendly. Boo.

Cork & Beans Coffee House & Wine Bar Seriously, coffee and wine. What more could you want for breakfast? Well, they do have some light bites on their food menu, but it’s more of a coffee and wine stop, rather than breakfast. Nonetheless, there is lots of shaded, outside seating and, of course, dog friendly.

There are lots of wonderful things to do in Dunedin and often, folks will come to this area and not venture very far. It’s no wonder, it’s a great place!

Dog friendly patio of Senor Ritas in Dunedin.

Senor Rita’s – We spotted this adorable little place just off the Pinellas Trail and mmmm, mmmm, was it ever a great find. Their brunch menu was amazing, the service was quick and friendly, and the food really was delicious. Add all of this to the cute aesthetics of the place, the hanging chairs, chic decor, and neon lights, it’s a great stop!

Clear Sky Draught Haus Just on the edge of downtown, in a wedge-shaped property, you can find a hearty breakfast at Clear Sky. Parking can be challenging during busy times, so plan to park and walk.

Dunedin Coffee Company & Bakery A recently renovated and under new ownership, the Dunedin Coffee Company was not yet open the last time I was by, and looking at their Facebook page, it looks like I need to elevate it on my list! If you’re in Dunedin, please stop by and support this new, local coffee shop.

The Patio at Cafe Alfrescos in Dunedin

Cafe Alfresco I’ve been here for brunch and it was delicious. I’ve also met a friend here for coffee and dessert, also delicious. The people watching from their patio seating is top-notch. It sits right on the Pinellas Trail, so it’s a great stop if you’re passing through on your bicycle. Cafe Alfresco serves brunch, only, on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am – 2 pm.

Lavita Bakery and Gelato offers organic, from scratch, and gluten-free baked goods. Freshly brewed coffee, coffee drinks, smoothies, and Gelato! This place also sits right on the Pinellas Trail, so do yourself a favor and stop for a snack and beverage.

Ariel shot of the Dunedin Causeway.

High & Dry Grill If you’re getting an early start with your recreation at the Dunedin Causeway, the High & Dry Grill opens at 10 am, and while they don’t serve breakfast, it’s a cool place for some bar bites or a cold beverage and the view… Ahhhhh, doesn’t get much better than this. Smack dab on the beach.

Our Place is my one selection that is sort of removed from the downtown area, but I have to add it because it’s still in Dunedin, technically, and if you’re looking for a good ‘ol home cookin’ type of place, this is it. Our Place has a wide variety on its menu and serves mimosas, beer, and other libations. The portions are large and the service is fast and friendly. One time we had a large party, maybe 18 or so, and we were all treated like members of the family. I loved that!

Country Boy Restaurant – Just a 1/2 mile from Our Place is another home-cookin’ style place, Country Boy. We used to visit this place after band rehearsal in Dunedin, the staff got to know us and the food was good! The menu is filled with classic breakfast fare along with a whole host of other great eats for any time of the day.

Strachan’s Ice Cream & Dessert – Look, if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you will know that one of my mottos is “Life is uncertain, eat dessert first”! Well, I’d be remiss if I didn’t include one of the most popular ice cream joints on Main Street. And, not to mention, they open at 11 am, so if you’re a late riser or the type of person who likes dessert after your meal, do yourself a favor and stop for a cone.
